THE BLACK ANGELS, from Austin Texas, are the headliners for WRUW's 29th annual Studio-A-Rama, to be held this Saturday September 11th!!!

 

The local/regional bands supporting The Black Angels are:

9PM - Sun God

8PM - Afternoon Naps

6PM - Self Destruct Button

5PM - Nick Riff's Freak Element

4PM - Prisoners

3PM - Teenage Grandpa

There will be FREE WRUW merchandise for the people showing up early (1PM).

 

As always, the show is free and open to the public.  The entire concert begins at 1PM and will be simulcast on 91.1 FM, WRUW's 15,000 Watt air signal, and webcast at wruw.org.  But of course we'd rather have you down here in person, so you can be part of the show.  We encourage you to make a day of it - food, beverages, blankets, pets, are all allowed to be brought in (no glass bottles please!) and you may exit and re-enter as often as you like.

 

The music starts at 1:00PM on Saturday Sept 11, in the Mather Memorial Courtyard on the campus of Case Western Reserve University.  The Mather Memorial bldg is the home of WRUW 91.1FM, and is located at the corner of Ford and Bellflower Roads, one block north of the Mayfield/Euclid intersection, in University Circle.  The address is 11220 Bellflower Rd , Cleveland OH , 44106.

 

Studio-A-Rama is WRUW's annual free outdoor rock concert, designed to thank listeners for their ongoing support throughout the year, and especially during WRUW's annual telethon.  An enthusiastic audience response during the annual on-air fundraiser enables WRUW to continue hosting Studio-A-Rama as well as support local music and live music.  Studio-A-Rama is one part of WRUW-FM's commitment to broadcasting local bands live. The "Live From Cleveland" show broadcasts bands from the WRUW-FM studios every Thursday evening from 10 until 11pm, and WRUW also simulcasts the live music from the main stage of the annual Hessler St. Fair, and from the Cleveland Institute of Arts' "Summer Solstice".

New Orleans Musicians Helping with Oil Cleanup Efforts in the Gulf

"Nobody Knows Nothin'" - a benefit track for GulfAid, will be on the playlist for tomorrow's Fat Monday show (7-9am).

Coming off their successful collaboration with Mos Def and Lenny Kravitz that resulted in the popular Ain't My Fault recording and video benefiting the organization Gulf Aid (www.gulfaid.org), Ben Jaffe, leader of the world famous Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and Bill Lynn, professional fundraiser and master auctioneer, have teamed with singer/songwriters John Boutté and Paul Sanchez to write and produce a fundraising project through Threadhead Records called Nobody Knows Nothin', also benefiting Gulf Aid.

SHRINEBUILDER are a stoner-metal supergroup...A Mount Rushmore of a band with an album that makes their fans want to go out and kill a lion and then using the lion's skull to make a bong.

This Friday, we're talking to Guitarist/Singer Scott Kelly (Neruosis) and Drummer Dale Crover (Melvins) about how these hallowed dudes all got together.

Between the four of them they have over 100 years of experience making damn cool music, and we'll find out how SHRINEBUILDERS compressed 3-day recording session birthed such a sweet and ugly record.

WRUW IS NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR THIS YEAR'S STUDIO-A-RAMA!!!

WRUW is now accepting submissions from local and regional bands who wish to play Studio-A-Rama this year.  The deadline to submit for this year's Studio-A-Rama is July 18th.  Seven to nine bands will be chosen to share the stage with a national headliner.  Recent headliners have included Mission of Burma, The Sadies, Guided by Voices, New Bomb Turks, Naked Raygun and Enon.
